How much is your margin actually leaking?
Most builders know inspections are a headache, but few realise they are a financial signal to an underlying problem.
The 60-Second Diagnostic:
Enter your inspection totals (for the year or just one project).
Input your approximate annual or project revenue.
Get an instant report showing your estimated loss and rework benchmarks.
How to use the calculator
-
Cost multipliers used are low, medium, and high. They calculate potential savings and defect rework costs from failed inspections.
-
Four Inspection phases exist, with industry benchmarks provided by the Auckland City Council.
These are first-time failure rates for each inspection phase. Enter data in 1 or all 4 phases, depending on the data you have available.
If you don't have the data, make some assumptions to get your report.
-
First, enter your total inspections in each inspection phase under the “Total inspection” column.
-
In the inspection failure costs columns, enter the number of failed inspections for each phase, based on the cost (low, medium, or high) column.
-
Once you have entered all required data, including your Total Annual revenue, you will need to enter your details and click the button to view the report.
The report is instant. It provides you with a prorated cost of failed inspections, along with potential savings from a 50% reduction in your data inputs.
